The Sword Coast |
Sword Coast North The actual Sword Coast streches much further then the image shown here. This part of the Sword Coast is the northern part and the whole podcast takes place in this region. It is a place of adventure, where daring souls delve into ancient strongholds and explore the ruins of long-lost kingdoms. Amid a lawless wilderness of jagged, snow-capped peaks, alpine forests, bitter winds, and roaming monsters, the coast holds such great bastions of civilization as the city of Neverwinter, in the shadow of the fuming volcano known as Mount Hotenow. Neverwinter Wood The Neverwinter Wood, previously called Llewyrrwood by the elves of Illefarn, is a dense forest located in the North. It possesses a sense of magic within it. The Neverwinter River runs through an area of the forests. Notable hills and mountains within includes Berun's Hill and the Crags, within which lay the famous Mount Hotenow. These woods are home to several dangerous creatures like goblins, ogres, boars, owlbears and many, many more. Sword Mountains With an arc-like shape, the mountains are located northwest of Waterdeep and east of the Mere of Dead Men. Their western slopes lead to the Trackless Sea in rolling foothills. Kryptgarden Forest Kryptgarden Forest, also known as Tsordvudd, is a small but ancient and foreboding forest and one of the so-called Moonwoods of the North. It is a site that once housed long-lost realms of the elves and dwarves, but now it holds a big bugbear tribe Mount Hotenow Mount Hotenow known to the ancient dwarves as Glaurimm, is a volcano amid the Crags mountain range, situated to the northeast of the city of Neverwinter on the Sword Coast North, deep in Neverwinter Wood. It is home to a large population of fire elementals, warming the Neverwinter River to the point where it never friezes over, even in the heart of winter, giving the city its name. The Crags The stretch of hills and mounds known as the Crags resembled a stitched wound of Toril's flesh. These flattened steppes and mounds transformed into a true mountain range as the elevations extended outward beyond its origin point. In the past, many mines were located within the crags, though they died and were worked out over time. Afterwards they became home to various creatures, including numerous species of goblinoids. A large tribe of Hobgoblins calls this place their home. |
