Basic Information:
Maelric is a tall, narrow man with a presence that feels carved rather than born. His skin is pale as ash, his hair cut short and
streaked with iron grey. He wears the black-and-red mantle of the High Inquisition, the symbol of a sun engulfed by fire emblazoned
on his chest.
His eyes are pale grey — so light they almost seem colorless — and many say that when he looks at you, you feel weighed. He carries
no weapon save a staff of black iron topped with a fragment of red crystal which rumours says glows faintly when near magic.
Maelric is the embodiment of the Doctrine — calm, unwavering, and utterly merciless. He does not scream, rage, or threaten. His authority
comes from quiet conviction.
To Maelric, heresy is not an act of rebellion but a disease. His work, then, is not cruelty — it is cleansing. He believes his methods are
kindness itself; by burning the corrupted, he saves their souls.
Though a zealot, Maelric is not a fool. He is politically shrewd, understanding that fear is most effective when delivered with ceremony
and poise. He ensures every execution in Sanctovar is a spectacle of sanctity — a sermon in flame.
He commands the Inquisition’s hierarchy, from field agents and confessors to torturers and priests.
The people see him as the closest mortal to the Flame itself. To be summoned to his chambers is to feel one’s soul laid bare. Even nobles
bow and tremble before his cold courtesy.
